If he honestly expected to be drafted, he had some bad advisors.

Looks like Miami picked him up for summer league.

He won't make the team. Mika is too soft for his position. When he goes up against physical centers in the NBA he will look worse than helpless. He should have stayed at BYU and enjoyed college and then went into a career, or Europe. I hope for the best for him, it is not fun to see this kind of thing happen to a guy that seems to be a good dude from a distance.

He probably won't make the team but Miami has a history of taking chances on summer league guys. Miami or Brooklyn would be his best chances to get picked up. For his sake I hope his jumper is leaps and bounds better than we saw at BYU.

Re: It's Official -- Eric Mika = Gone
I watched most of Mika's last game against Indiana's summer league team.
Things Mika did well:
-Made his free throws
-Made a 20 foot jumper
-Finished a play with a dunk
-Played hard every minute he was on the floor
-Pursued offensive boards hard
-screens properly
Things he did poorly:
-Dropped so low on PnR coverage that he gave up several jumpers
-got beasted in the post twice in a row by Christmas
-got beasted on the defensive glass by Christmas repeatedly
-Couldn't create an advantage when doubled in the post.
As an energy defensive player his defensive liabilities are serious problems. I see very little chance of his catching onto an NBA squad. If he could shoot the NBA 3 maybe things would be different.

Re: It's Official -- Eric Mika = Gone
There was never any chance for Mika to make an NBA squad. He isn't long, he isn't athletic enough, he doesn't play defense and he is soft on both the offensive and defensive ends. The NBA is way to physical for soft players. Jimmer is a scoring machine and he couldn't find the floor because he didn't play defense. Mika isn't nearly that kind of a scoring threat.

Then there really was no reason for him to stick around for another season if he could go get paid now.

Especially when he would have been coached by the worst coach to ever sit on the sidelines of a College basketball court.

Rose is a very good coach, I don't know what you're talking about.

frdbtr is a staunch supporter of Rose, which is admirable. You have to give him that. The titanic could be sinking and he'd still be defending its solid construction.hawkwing wrote:Rose is a very good coach, I don't know what you're talking about.
