BYU-AFA 2009: Refs had an agenda

Post by YBrit »

Just watching the game on BYUtv whilst the wife is trying out for x-factor (ie-wastes her day)

These mwc or grouping of refs came in with a game plan to rob BYU all day. The same agenda was greatly magnified all year in 2010. The loyalists on rumorboard need to watch these games to remember the mwc shinanigans

I almost lost my lunch when they did the "attempting to decieve" call.

Didn't we kill AFA in 2009??? Like 38-21, and it was never really close?

I can see that we are officially in football drought. If we are talking about somebody's wife trying out for x-factor. What is x-factor

Just because we beat the crap out of them doesn't mean the refs didn't suck in that game. Have you ever heard of a penalty for "attempting to decieve" the defense before? Neither had I. Has to be, to this day, the worst call in all of college football history.

That was not the first time BYU had run that play. Obviously, the official that made that awful "attempt to deceive" call, knew BYU had that play and had determined ahead of time he was going to make the call he did. My guess is that official works for the "U", and hated Max Hall so much, and BYU so much, he just had to try and get their goat with, yes, the worst call in football history.

I went over the rules when the attempt to deceive call was made, and there is something on the books that prevents you from faking communication with your own sideline. However, if you watch the footage, you see that Hall turns towards the camera - which would be Air Force's sideline. Like they're going to give him signals or something? That's why the call was so bad - the rule on the books was completely misinterpreted, incorrectly applied, and horribly explained.

If the yewts take the field and there are no BYU fans to pour beer on, will anybody come?

Here is what the ref should have said:

I love how Max got in the ref's face at about the 10:30 mark. I miss that stuff from Max.
