Ahead a Week= UNR

Post by snoscythe »

Is anyone else a little more worried about Nevada after the Air Force game?

Our youth on defense was exposed by the lead option, which makes me dread seeing them trying to defend the pistol spread option as it tends to drink from the same well.

I felt good about this game after week one and I feared FSU, but after last week's performances by FSU and BYU, I'm not so worried about the 'Noles, but the Wolfpack has me concerned.

I just hope our greenies on defense can learn that keeping your assignment is more important than making a big play before UNR comes to town.

I think we will tighten things up significantly. No one will run like AFA and their offensive scheme is so unique that like Bronco said, there is not much you can take away from the game. Jimbo Fisher even said that watching BYU vs. AFA was not very helpful at all, the AFA game was not a sign that we can't defend the run, just a sign that we can't defend the triple option. I think we'll be okay against UNR and our fans will be hyped up for that game. UNR is used to playing in front of small peanut gallerys.

I am worried as well. I watched part of their csu game and it was ugly quick. their qb is good. while csu is REALLY bad i am still worried. He obviously can run VERY well but he can also throw. From what I saw he is a legit dual threat (unlike locker). I will actually be watching their game against cal with great interest. Should give us a better idea of how we will fair given I think cal so far has one of the best defenses.

That said, I know their defense is probably not going to stop us, especially at home. and hopefully by then there will be a little more clarity to our "personel situation" (don't want to make this another qb thread) on offense.

I am a little worried though to express any type of worry given the whipping I took earlier today for expressing anything but optimism.

Are you kidding that kid scares me! 1) How are our defenders even going to see him to be able to tackle him? 2) Are our defenders going to want to tackle a little kid like that? And you can bet he won't go down with two hands. That kid could light us up!

Imagine the chop blocks that kid could throw, he's already at knee level, ever hit is a helmet to the knee or shin!

With a kid like that, our only hope is Nelson and Chamber playing free/strong safety positions.

I am extremely worried...they can run and are better at it this year than last...They ran against BSU last year just fine. Their D stunk and in the end that was the difference

Mark my words, Nevada will choke big time. They only seem to get up for games in the WAC, minus their yearly BSU debacle, and could be the biggest chokers of all time.

Kapernick can not pass worth a darn. And they have no defense to speak of.

BYU will win this game easy. (I hope)
