Preston Hadley admits he was hired by Sitake and Tuiaki WITHOUT being interviewed!
Are you kidding me?! What kind of joke does Sitake think this job is?
I hope he's updating his resume because he won't be at BYU in 2019. Calling my shot right now. He's gone.

I just finished reading a book "Start With Why". Kalani needs to read that (as well as many other organizational management books).

This is what we get when the coaching search starts and ends with one guy. I hope he is able to get BYU where we all want them to be but I have no confidence that he can.

This is also should be meant as a slight towards Hadley. He may very well be fully qualified and will do a great job. But it just looks like Sitake has no process to guide him as he leads the football program.

So, we lose Kaufusi ... 16 yrs at BYU, solid coach. And we pick up Hadley (without an interview) from Weber State (where he did a decent job). I'm not going to say that Hadley was a bad choice ... but was he the ONLY choice?SpiffCoug wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2018 9:21 pm https://overcast.fm/+CEpK-Gb3I/18:45

BYU is supposed to be an independent of national prominence (before last year), and we schedule a lot of great teams to prove it. With that as a starting position, are we to believe that the ONLY candidate was Hadley? That there wasn't another qualified coach in all of college football that would want to come?
This demonstrates that the Friends and Family Plan is still in charge.

Re: Sitake has no clue what he is doing.
I'm a business/finance analyst so I often look at BYU sports from a business perspective. BYU Athletics is the company. AD is the CEO and the head coaches are VPs. If these guys were running a "real" business with shareholders to answer to do you think they'd still have a job?
Answer this honestly for the AD and HC for football and basketball plus any other BYU sport you are passionate about.
Has BYU Athletics' imaginary stock gone up or down over the past 1/3/5 years? What is the trend?

The trend was a slow decline in football the last 10 years with football falling off a cliff the last 8 months.

BYU's two main sports, football and men's basketball are on a major decline in the last five years. Holmoe should not have his job.
Sitaki and Rose (hate to say it) should be gone.

Rose should have seen MIka and Emery leaving early for different reasons? I don't get that. BYU's a different team this year with both of those guys back

Re: Sitake has no clue what he is doing.
BYU basketball is fine. We've been in games against the two top-15 teams in our conference. What coaching decisions would have made a difference at LMU? More Worthington and Bergesen?
Who else was Holmoe to hire for head football coach? If he hires Nuimatalolo, Cougar Nation revolts because we're running the option. Cougar Nation revolts if we hire Grimes - or anyone else - other than Ty freaking Detmer. He had to take that chance and let it play out.
With hindsight, it is clear that we cannot survive front loaded schedules. We're not just playing LSU or Wisconsin or Utah. We play all three in consecutive weekends. I'm afraid we will see a similar breakdown the next couple of years - Arizona, Wisconsin and Washington road games in September? Too much.
But had Holmoe NOT scheduled these games, we would complain about weak schedules.
