Unless it was prohibited or discouraged by the NCAA I don't get why BYU would delay announcing their new hire once they know who it will be. It's not like they had to wait until yesterday to sign papers that give a starting date of Jan 9. The fact that BYU still hasn't announced anything says that they didn't have anything to announce. Typical BYU admin. Somehow, the BYU administration seems to take the tale of The Tortoise and the Hare as a biblical parable. Slow and steady is great for leading a worldwide church, but not so much for building a nimble football staff.

95%+ of the schools took the same path BYU did.

BYU fans are overreacting because Utah took a risk in hopes of getting an advantage in landing one recruit from OreSt.

I'd have to say this is still surprising to me that this isn't nailed down by now. Indicates that they haven't probably been able to get those they want and are just going on down the line. Oh well, this is BYU.

From the rumors I have been hearing it is looking like the 10th assistant will be on defense.

From the BYU press release today re: Steve Kaufusi's departure and the Preston Hadley hire,

BYU will still hire an additional offensive coach to complete its staff for the 2018 season.

There's been more than one offensive coaching move this year. I hope that it works out
