Butch Pau'u told he's not good enough for BYU

Butch was let known today that he will not have a place next year with any significant minutes at BYU because his team leading tackles per game isn't tall enough.

It is expected he will be transferring.

I would assume his Brother Nick will also leave which is a shame because he was one of the few receivers who looked promising and played with any toughness at all.

I'm seriously considering not watching any BYU Football until Sitake is gone. This is absolute garbage.

This IS a bad joke ... right?
Butch isn't good enough for BYU? Hawk, I trust you, but where did this actually come from? Who is the idiot who gave him this news? If true, we are starting to see the dumpster fire that 2018 will be.

I'm going to wait to see some actual evidence this is true. But if it is, holy crap. Pure garbage move.

WTH is going on with this BYU team? If this is any indication of the leadership (and there's been plenty of evidence to suggest that this is not an anomaly) I totally agree. Ty is lucky to be gone. Pau'u is lucky to be done. I'M done with BYU till things get corrected.

I just can't wrap my head around this.

According to the Pauu family member on facebook, Tuiaki told Butch and Shelton to consider transferring because they are seniors who will not start next year (due to lack of height), and the program is in a scholarship crunch.

I'm a glutton for punishment. I love BYU football enough that I will have to continue to watch but I don't hold any hope that BYU football will be worth watching until this current coaching staff and maybe the AD are let go. This is a failure on a huge scale and it is getting worse. IMO there is no way Ty detmer should have been the first coach "relieved of duties", that honor should have been Cahoon. Ty was running a bad offense but his position coaches weren't helping him any, especially the receivers coach. Also, if the Offensive coordinator was to be "relieved of duties" the defensive coordinator should have also had the same honor since the defense was nearly as bad as the offense this year.

This almost makes me wonder if the BoT told Kalani to be so bad that the fans would not rebel when football is cancelled at BYU ... just as all sports were at Ricks.

What mind-numbing stupidity ... (and here I thought that Tuiaki would be alright as DC, he just needed to be moved to Linebackers! I'm afraid I was wrong on both counts ...)

I consider myself a die hard fan and I would watch every game in a winless season. But this is not just about Xs and Os. It's much worse. What I cannot stand and support is the intentional awful culture that has been created. If what is happening to Pau'u is true (and we're only hearing one side of the story) then I want nothing to do with this head coach. I'm seriously thinking of writing a letter to Holmoe about why Sitake should be fired. Anyone want to draft a good letter for me? :D I'm not a season football ticket holder so I can't threaten to not renew, but I'd be open to any kind of pressure that can be put on the AD to clean house.

This board is filled with blue-goggled fans, and I get the impression that most of us are not season ticket holders, and only a few of us are Y-club members ... which may mean we have little-to-no voice that can or will be heard by TH. BUT we can write, we can be public (not only here, but on CB and elsewhere) in our stated concerns.

I have loved BYU Football since I was old enough to know what football was ... and that's been a long time! I want to support Kalani ... I've met him several times and really like him on a personal level ... I really want to be able to cheer for him and see him succeed. But I don't see this ending well. I'm afraid, very afraid, this will be worse than anything Crowton did, and I wonder if there will be anyone in the wings who can help us recover.

What a sad day for BYU Football :~(
