Mika was a black hole. Every time he got the ball he would just run lateral to the basket and throw in a wild shot. He is lucky that he got fouled on that play as often as not.

I know it sounds contradictory, but this team will be better without him. Yoeli is NBA talent, and Dastrup looks ready to contribute seriously.

Many people don't realize, or forget, that BYU's starters were third in the nation in points scored with 68 points, behind UCLA and I forget who else. The bench scoring was second to last in the nation, with just under 11 points scored. BYU had the 29th best scoring team in the nation, in spite of the dismal scrub play it received by its bench. We replaced those non-scorers with better defensive talent, who can also score.

Our returning mission people being healthy, plus our starters back, plus our net-positive transfers, is going to be one talented, deep team. BYU wins the WCC this year, barring substantial injuries. Mark it down.

I like the confidence, Brayden.

With better D and more bench, we may just get there.

Marked it down.

I'm cautiously optimistic this year. UNM exhibition game (would love to go) will be revealing.

Shows intriguing potential after last night’s win at the pit. Better D for sure. Really good shooting %. Clean up those turnovers and BYU will look improved over last year.

It looks like UNM returned about 5 players from a team that went 17-15 last year.

UNM fans have been disappointed sine Alford left for UCLA. I lived in Abq the last 3 years. Good sign that BYU won, but not the strongest of UNM teams lately. Pit is a tough place to win either way though. Good for the Cougs.

Until shown otherwise, I take it as a good beginning. As pointed out, the pit has always been a tough venue. Isn't defense one of last years problems? If Cougs_Rule is right and defense is improved it's looking up.

I think Having Shroyer (sp?) back on the bench is going to help a lot.

Agree, someone that not only knows how to run a defensive scheme, but also cares.
