His family has plenty of money. There are plenty of reasons to enjoy playing college sports while you still can.hawkwing wrote:Then there really was no reason for him to stick around for another season if he could go get paid now.

But it's pretty clear that he didn't enjoy it all that much. Maybe he'll look back in his twilight years and regret that decision, but he didn't seem to enjoy playing college ball that much based on his interviews over the last 6 months.Mars wrote:His family has plenty of money. Rose is the best basketball coach BYU has ever had, the wins and statistics prove it. Why wouldn't I be a staunch supporter of that. It would be like UCLA firing John Wooden.Gunk wrote:frdbtr is a staunch supporter of Rose, which is admirable. You have to give him that. The titanic could be sinking and he'd still be defending its solid construction.hawkwing wrote:Rose is a very good coach, I don't know what you're talking about.

It took Wooden 17 years to win his first championship. In todays world he probably would had been fired before winning the first one and becoming a legend.

Mika's summer league stats:
I don't think he played his way into a two-way contract like he hoped, but there is still that outside shot.
http://www.deseretnews.com/article/8656 ... dates.htmlIn five games, he averaged 5.4 points on 40 percent shooting from the field and 83.3 percent from the foul line while adding 3.6 rebounds in 13.1 minutes.

Wins/loses and statistics also prove Rose isn't performing nearly as well as he has in the past.frdbtr wrote:Rose is the best basketball coach BYU has ever had, the wins and statistics prove it. I like the guy. No question is he the best coach we've had, but he's slipping and needs to do something soon or he's going to lose a lot more fans.

I agree but for now, I am giving him time to fix the issues. He deserves that from what he has done. The guy has not had a season yet with less than 20 wins. That is saying something, he has "slipped" and yet he still wins 20+ games per year.Gunk wrote:Wins/loses and statistics also prove Rose isn't performing nearly as well as he has in the past.frdbtr wrote:Rose is the best basketball coach BYU has ever had, the wins and statistics prove it. His mom and dad have plenty of money. Mika and his wife do not. I'd feel like a complete loser if after getting married my wife and I still had everything paid for by our parents.Mars wrote:His family has plenty of money. 20-somethings these days don't care about that. It's mom and dad's job to sponsor them through life.SpiffCoug wrote:His mom and dad have plenty of money. Mika and his wife do not. I know plenty of newly weds and even some in their 40s that still get some sort of aid from their folks whether free cell phones or down payments on houses.
