Re: QB Preview 2017
Tanner needs to become a field general and demand perfection from his receivers in the off season in their route running. He needs to get in the faces of receivers who run wrong routes, and who cut off their routes early. They need to practice press coverage in their drills and he needs to demand toughness from them. Tanner is a great QB and has the potential to blow away BYU's passing records but he is not going to be able to do it with the marshmallow's we have at receiver right now.

Good points. Do you think Tanner has it in him to get in his receivers' grill and call them out? He seems like too much of a nice guy. Taysom was a nice guy, but you could also tell that he'd get after you for not pulling your weight.
The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited to the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were and ask, "Why Not?" -JFK & SWK

I hope so. If he's not, he will never be successful at this or the next level.CrimsonCoug wrote:Good points. Do you think Tanner has it in him to get in his receivers' grill and call them out? Re: QB Preview 2017
The talk coming out of Spring (most notably from Jake Kuresa) has not been exactly glowing for Mangum. Not that he's been performing poorly, but rather that he has not shown as much improvement as most expect from him. He still looks like what we saw in the bowl game against Wyoming (and in the Spring game).

Maybe it's been raining every time Kuresa has seen him? Mangum has had some great games and looked very good, but he's always played miserably in the rain.

Re: QB Preview 2017
Tanner looked good when we had guys like MM, Terenn Houk, and Devon Blackmon for him to throw to. There was a reason Kurtz was in Anae's dog house and we found out what that reason was last year. The only receiver that had any heart at all last year was Juergens and he wasn't healthy and couldn't do it alone. The only way BYU's offense will be able to do anything in 2017 is if some fresh receiver blood shows up with some toughness and heart. Here's to hoping.hawkwing wrote:Maybe it's been raining every time Kuresa has seen him? Mangum has had some great games and looked very good, but he's always played miserably in the rain.
