Jake Heaps waived
Jake Heaps has been waived. He did get to play about 2 minutes in a preseason game, which is a huge accomplishment.

Re: Jake Heaps waived
Ouch. If they hadn't signed Josh Johsnon (career QBR of 23.0), I would have thought they'd have a spot for him on the practice squad after he cleared waivers. Looks like they shut the door on that, though.hawkwing wrote: Jake Heaps has been waived. He did get to play about 2 minutes in a preseason game, which is a huge accomplishment.
Apparently Heaps crumbled under pressure--they brought in JJ for a workout side-by-side with Heaps, and Heaps proceeded to throw 4 picks in the practice.

Ooops. Not the outcome Jake was hoping for. I hope he rebounds.
Looks like that controversial decision made years ago by the BYU coaching staff, followed up by the U of Kansas staff, followed up by the U of Miami staff, followed up by the Jets staff...... see a common decision pattern????
I wish Jake Heaps the best. I hope he gets a shot with some team in the NFL. Sincerely.

Whole background story of Heaps is pretty sad.

Too bad. I was hoping that he could at least make the practice squad. Got further than I ever thought he would. Maybe another team will pick him up for the practice squad.

His story should be read as a warning to all parents starting their kids in Pee Wee Football. But there are plenty of guys playing football (and not playing football for that matter) who have had it a lot worse.BYUBALLIN wrote:Whole background story of Heaps is pretty sad.

It just sounds like the whole process destroyed his family.hawkwing wrote:His story should be read as a warning to all parents starting their kids in Pee Wee Football. Seems to me that his parents destroyed the process. If it weren't football they would have been obsessed about something else that would have ripped the family apart.BYUBALLIN wrote:It just sounds like the whole process destroyed his family.hawkwing wrote:His story should be read as a warning to all parents starting their kids in Pee Wee Football. Can we move this thread to pro sports? I think we'd all be happier.
If ye love the tranquility of servitude better than the contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.
