I don't know how I won this game's prediction. Mine were terrible. I guess 25 points says that.

I predicted a 79-69 win, while it was 71-51.
I predicted that Utah would make more free throws, and BYU more 3-pointers. It was the opposite.
And I certainly didn't guess that Davies would lead BYU in Points, Haws would lead us in Assists, and Loyd would lead the Cougars in Steals.

Get in your predictions early for our upcoming blow-out of TCU on Saturday (the first of two!):

Some other thoughts:

~Sackless yewt Henderson refused to shake Jackson Emery's hand before the game. Then he shot 1-7 from the field and, like every other player on his team, wasn't able to score in double-digits.

~BYU's largest lead was 29 points, with about 12 minutes left in the game.

~Surprising to see BYU own the paint. The Cougars had 28 points under the hoop, compared to only 16 for Utah and their 7'3" ogre.

~BYU also outrebounded Utah by 10, and even grabbed 3 more offensive boards. Hartsock and Davies were huge this game, with 8 and 7 rebounds respectively.

~BYU's bench scored 44 points. This is a good sign that the Cougars could definitely win a first round =Tourny game this year.

~Utah never had a lead, playing at home against their rival. This is with Fredette and Haws scoring in single digits, and Hartsock, Miles, Abouo, Magnusson, Zylstra, Anderson, and Tavernari combining to score 7 points.

~How did we win this game by 20 anyways? The team outside of Davies/Loyd shot an absolutely dreadful 7-38 (that's a percentage in the teens!).

~Seriously, when was the last game J.T. played double-digit minutes but only took one shot?

~Haws has made 32 free throws in a row now. Two good games against TCU and he could break Jimmer/BYU's all-time record (37). As a true freshman!

P.S.

OWNED!

BYU has won 7 of 8 againt Utah now, to go along with 3 of 4 in football. That's 10-2 against Utah in the two major sports over the past 4 years folks!

This game tied the overall series between the two, 125-125. Of course, our 125 wins are much better than theirs! :P

Utah never led against BYU at any point in either game this year.

" Reflecting on the start of last night's history-making 71-51 win at Utah, BYU head coach Dave Rose said to our postgame show audience: "When that ball tipped, our boys were ready, and we had that look in our eyes."

Tough to argue with the coach, after his Cougars put together a wire-to-wire dump-trucking of the Runnin' Utes at the Huntsman Center, the worst rivalry loss for the Utes in the arena's 40-year history. It was also Utah's worst rivalry home loss in some 57 years. "
