Bowl Game RER & Other Statistical Observations
Here is the final installment of RER (season RER in Parentheses)
Hoffman: 130.14 (121,58)
Lasike: 125.20 (35.20)
Ridley: 79.89 (128.57)
Falslev: 112.87 (155.98)
Thompson: 39.49 (90.74)
Henderson: 200.80 (184.27)
RBs: 41.37 (71.74)
TEs: 39.49 (103.66)
WRs: 114.73 (131.24)
- I'm not sure where the notion that our TEs needed to be more involved comes from. NEW and DIFFERENT TEs might need to become a part of the offense, but the current crop on the roster in 2013 were simply unproductive. I counted just 24 player games where a TE caught a pass. But just nine player games where a TE had a RER above 135.
- BYU had 16 passing first downs - the 2nd most this season (21 vs Houston).
- The 102 penalties committed were the most under Bronco.
- The 7 lost fumbles were the fewest since losing 4 in 2006.
- BYU's 116.33 PER was the 2nd lowest under Bronco (115.09 in 2010).
- The 5.2 yards per carry was the highest ever under Bronco.
- The 5.8 yards per play were 0.6 more than last year, 0.3 higher than two years ago and 0.8 more than 2010.
- The 0.35 points per play were the lowest under Bronco.
- The 1.6 FGM per game was the highest under Bronco.
- The team with the better PER won 12 of the 13 games in 2013 (.923). Under Bronco the team with the better PER is 102-14 (.879). The team with the better PER has won 25 of the last 26 games (.962) and 33 of the last 35 games (.943).
- With the loss, Bronco dropped to 8-10 against teams in Gold helmets. (It's too bad UW didn't wear their white ones where Bronco is 19-4).
- The loss dropped Bronco to 9-9 against PAC-12 teams.
- Opponent scoring drives the last four years have averaged 65.4, 65.1, 64.9 and 65.5. BYU's have averaged 66.4, 61.6, 62.5 and 60.5.
- Four the 4th straight game, BYU was 0 in turnover margin. BYU did not lose the turnover battle in the final 8 games
