The Cougar offense has a slow start once again and only scores one goal in the first quarter against a bad Loyola-Marymount (0-3) squad. They then find their groove and go up 4-0 midway through the second, but LMU scores two quick goals just before the half to cut the lead to two. 4-2 Cougars.

Slow starts seem to plague the Cougars this year. Hope they can figure things out.

Yep, they've been relying on their depth to make runs in the second half, but that won't work against equally deep teams like CSU and ASU.

In an extremely bizarre turn of events, the lights on the field go out and cannot be turned back on, effectively ending the game in the third quarter (yep, this is the respect club lacrosse gets). Final score: 9-2 BYU. Kudos to Cougar keeper Rob Ostler for a save percentage over .500 and the BYU defense for a couple nice yard-sale checks (knocking the opposing player's stick out of his hands).

Next game: The Cougars return home to play in-state little brother USU (1-4) next Saturday, March 2 @ 4 pm MST.

BYU obliterated Utah St. this afternoon, 27-1. Not a whole lot to report on this one other than the Cougs let me down by not recording a shutout ;) We're now 1-0 in conference play and on top of the RMLC rankings with a 5-0 overall record.

Next game is at home in week vs. New Mexico and will be another good chance to get deep into the bench and get the young guys some experience.

The No. 2 Cougars win another lopsided affair against the New Mexico Lobos, 26-0.

Next week should provide a more real test for BYU as they travel to Arizona to take on Grand Canyon, No. 5 Arizona State, and No. 21 Arizona.
