Beck making people believe

Discussion for professional sporting events/teams and players.

This would be a great place to discuss the Super Bowl, the NBA Playoffs or whatever else.

Beck making people believe

Post by Schmoe »

John Beck started to make believers out of a lot of Washington fans with his performance vs the Colts: 14 of 17 for 140 yards in four straight scoring drives with no INTs. Compare that to Grossman's 7 of 13 for 88 yards and one pick:

Grossman last week:
19-26 for 207 yds and 1 TD.

Beck still has work to do.

Did John do enough tonight to get the starting job? He had a lot of praise from the announcers.

Grossman played well. I think the coaches have more trust in Beck, because the offense was more aggressive with Beck.

Beck definitely looked more in command of the offense, he had an ability to move around in the pocket and roll out that Grossman simply does not have. I think the job is Beck's.

That 97 yard drive in the 3rd quarter probably solidified the job for him. That was impressive. Before that drive he was 1/4 for 33 yards and an interception. The interception had as much to do with the receiver slowing up on the route as it did with the throw. That drive he was 5/5 for 73 yards and a TD.

Don't let the first half numbers fool you, though. Beck got in, his first pass a was a 33-yard fade, then two plays later Hightower had an amazing 35-ish yard run to take it to the house. Three plays to touchdown.

Yeah, Beck showed great quick-strike ability and sustained drive-ability.
