I don't mean to speak for Sno, but the operating word in that sentence seems to be "quality."Schmoe wrote:Except he averaged 31 minutes a game

Re: What the "H" are the Jazz doing?
Also, I know double posting is lame, but I wonder what my friend Schmoe thinks about these contracts, since Larry was the point man on all of them.
FIFTH HIGHEST PAYROLL in the NBA this season, and
Greg Ostertag: ($6.9 Mill, $7.8 mill, $8.6 Mill - as if that wasn't enough, we brought him back for 2 more years @ $4 Mill a piece.)
Harpring - (averaged $6 million a year for 7 years. And unloading his contract last year is the reason we don't have Eric Maynor... We traded Harpring and Maynor for to the Thunder for ........ the rights to 2002 draft pick Peter Fehse - who has never played in the NBA. We could have used Maynor this year, no?)
Jarron Collins: $20 mill in 7-ish seasons. Did he even play in 20 games a year?
Boozer (6 year, $80 million contract - started an average of 56 games during his 6 year career here. Guess how many games he started for the Bulls this year with a week left? 55. )
CJ Miles - ($3.4 million this year)
Memo - ($9.5 million this year, $10.8 next)
AK - ($17.8 million this year - non starter)
Kris Humphries (averaged 1.6 Mill for 4 years. averaged 3 rebs and 3 points a game)
and you can argue that since the Dwill trade we have down a couple mil, but that would still put us around 8th in the league, and we have gone 6 wins and 16 losses since that time. For the 8th-ish highest paid team in the league, we ought to have better results than that.

Except right now he is getting 20 a game from a team that valued him SO much that they were willing to pay more than the Jazz.Schmoe wrote:Except he averaged 31 minutes a game

Again, the most CONSISTENT player on floor will be giving you more QUALITY MINUTES than anyone else on the team, derp!BlueIsBetter wrote:I don't mean to speak for Sno, but the operating word in that sentence seems to be "quality."Schmoe wrote:Except he averaged 31 minutes a game
And yes, you have to pay players more to get them to play in Utah, we've already covered that.

Re: What the "H" are the Jazz doing?
Right, Greg Ostertag would have went ANYWHERE for 5-6 million, that is why we needed to pay him 7, 8 and 9?
And I was responding to the fact that only 20 of those 31 minutes he "averages" a game are "quality," Derp!

Yeah, I got what you were implying about the 20 minutes, and I was telling you that you were incorrect, double derp with a derp cherry on top

Re: What the "H" are the Jazz doing?
The Jazz freaked when Big Country Reeves got his huge extension from Vancouver. Ironically that contract helped Vancouver move to Memphis and the Jazz haven't been as good since the 'tag contract either.BlueIsBetter wrote:Right, Greg Ostertag would have went ANYWHERE for 5-6 million, that is why we needed to pay him 7, 8 and 9?
