Jerry Sloan and Phil Johnson resigning from Utah Jazz

Discussion for professional sporting events/teams and players.

This would be a great place to discuss the Super Bowl, the NBA Playoffs or whatever else.

Jerry Sloan and Phil Johnson resigning from Utah Jazz

Love the Jazz or hate them, no one can deny that the Jerry & Phil combo has been an incredible coaching combination.

I mean to them resigning not to them being an incredible coaching combo ;)

Thanks!

Man this is crap! It sounds to me like it's a force out. This is not how you treat your Hall of Fame coach. At least wait until the season is over so that Sloan can retire with dignity. Larry Miller is rolling over in his grave.

Talk is that it is Deron Williams pushing him out.

I know I'd rather have the coaches than any player.

The odd thing is, until this year Deron Williams and Coach Sloan were getting along very well. Something happened this off-season that didn't sit right.

Greg Miller is now trying to cover his own butt in this press conference instead of focusing on Jerry. What a slimeball.

Also does anybody else think that this press conference is a poor time to announce the new head coach? I mean this guy is a hall of fame head coach who has been here for 23 years give him the attention and respect he deserves.

You think it's a force out?

I can't imagine that is even remotely possible. Sloan has been on the verge of retiring for the last 2-3 years and was still planning on evaluating whether he would continue after this season.

His arguments with Deron probably solidified what's been a long decision process. At least. that's what I hope it was.

Even if we knew it was coming it's still sad to see such a legend go, and the Jazz will be hard pressed to find a replacement that is anything like Jerry Sloan.

Man, if I find out that it was williams that "forced" Sloan out, I don't know if I can look at him the same.

It's amazing how hard this has been for me. I've been a huge jazz fan as long as I can remember and Sloan has been there the entire time. I don't know if I will enjoy the utah Jazz anymore (I've already gotten tired of them looking like they don't give a crap this year). I don't know if I'll even follow the NBA. The game was meant to be played in Jerry Sloan style. It's incredible that these flash in the pan coaches got COY over you year after year.

Sloan, enjoy your time away from the court.

Now what I'm worried about is the Jazz stealing Coach Rose!!!

It was definitely a force out, Jerry Sloan is too much a man to not finish the season otherwise. Word is that Williams said he'd walk if Sloan was his coach next year. Guess what dumbass Miller family? He's gonna walk anyway!! This never would have happened with Larry still at the helm, too bad his kid is the definition of the word dummy (rich people's kids generally are).
