John Beck is staying with the Ravens for at least one year

John beck signed the league minimum for another year.
I also read that Troy Smith who is currently back up number 2, wants to be traded since he knows the Ravens are VERY happy with starting QB flacco and he doesn't see himself breaking the depth chart anytime soon.

Since Troy has much more market value than JB does at the moment, I could see the Ravens trading him for picks or cash. that would move our boy up a spot, which hopefully means more time playing in preseason games and perhaps cleanup duty. Those Dolphin days are weighing heavily I think.

That will make 4 years for Beck, which means he'll be eligible for retirement benefits.

This is actually a little more significant than you think. He is still in play, but the Ravens feel that he is worth at least a 3rd round pick for someone to come and get him. They don't do that for all free agents.
