MLB Power Rankings

Discussion for professional sporting events/teams and players.

This would be a great place to discuss the Super Bowl, the NBA Playoffs or whatever else.

MLB Power Rankings

Post by NFLJPD »

The big magazines and odds makers will wait for the week before the season begins to throw it out there.... ...I won't.

RIVALRY!

1. (tie) Boston Red Sox: Gone are bats Manny, Jason Bay and in some ways "Big Papi" (his early slump in '09). but '04 and '07 were earned by Pitching, Defense and Heart. That's what they went to for '10. Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Dice K., Bucholz, and Wakefield as well as Bard, Papelbon, Okajima, Etc. Give the Sox an absurdly potent pitching staff. They are also seen as the best defensive team in baseball with Gold Glove contenders at virtually every position.

1. (tie) New York Yankees: Money talks and no one talks with their wallet like the Yankees. They have at least one of, if not the best pitching staffs in MLB but they definitely have the Bats! They will hit homers everywhere..., and will be setting records in that new ball park (that seems to suck even "pop ups" over the fence...).

3. Philadelphia Phillies - They are still the team that dominated in '08 and almost "back to backed" in '09. They are Bat heavy and their bullpen is thinning but solid. The NL has to show up down the stretch or they will win another penant.

4. St. Louis Cardinals - If Brad Penny can perform on par with Wainright and Carpenter and Pujols puts together yet another phenominal season the Cards will be another serious contender.

5. Los Angeles / Anaheim Angels: They have Defense and they have Bats, but do they still have enough Pitching? They will still be good.

I will wait to start throwing TB, SF, LAD, NYM, etc. in the mix.
