Go Cardinals!
Great series and absolutely EPIC game by Carp and Halladay. The Cards are incredibly resilient and clutch this year, and I have no doubt that the Brew Crew will be their toughest remaining test because the AL is weak. To think I had given up on baseball once BYU football started....

Yet again, we play an entire season to see who the best team is and the teams who proved it over the entire season get beat by the team hottest right now.
Playoffs = meaningless regular season

In which sport is this not true though? Hockey, oh yeah upsets all the time. Football--one game decides it so you get plenty of upsets there too. The only sport that usually crowns the best team is the NBA, which is why it tends to be boring (last year excluded).
Playoffs are what they are. Do you just want to shut it down at the end of the season and declare a winner?

Here's a hypothetical. There are 30 MLB teams. If you played every other team twice (one home series and one away series) you'd play 156 games.
Or you could do it completely separate by league. You play every other team in the league in two home/away series. The two league champions square off in two home/away series to determine the overall champion.
