I see what is happening. Stanford, USC and BYU are all out of the west. Stanford and USC are ahead of BYU, so BYU gets the 3-seed.

Re: Women's Soccer 2016
Regular season finale tonight v. Gonzaga. BYU won dominantly 6-0 on goals from Barker, Vasconcelos, Vasconcelos, Topham, Gomes and a great PK by Hatch (so glad she got a goal in her final game). Topham, a reserve defender got the first goal of her career. Vasconcelos' goals came less than a minute apart. With the exception of Gomes' goal, all the goals scored tonight were by seniors, and all non-keeper seniors, with the exception of Medeiros, who got an assist, got a goal.
We still have the post-season and I hope they go ALL THE WAY, but I will really miss watching these players play for BYU. Vasconcelos has been on the team almost since I started watching our soccer team and Hatch, Madeiros and Barker the year after Michelle started. It will be sad not to have Vasconcelos on the field (she is amazing!) I loved how good Boaz has been (it's disappointing she didn't get to start after her hand healed). And it was great to see Topham do so well the last several games in reserve.
Oh, by the way, this is BYU's 5th consecutive WCC Championship (shared with Pepperdine), a record in the WCC. I believe this is one of the best women's soccer teams BYU has ever had.
The NCAA Tournament selection show is Monday at 2:30 MST and will be on NCAA.com. Let's hope for a 1 or 2 seed. We will likely have an RPI of 8, 9 or 10 after this match, and Stanford and USC are ahead of us in the RPI, so we may end up being a 3-seed but we can hope for a 1 or 2.
Go Cougs!

Apparently neither RPI nor the polls mean anything. What a slap in the face to give us a 4 seed. Can you sue the NCAA for discrimination. BYU has an rpi/poll of 7/4. The other 4 seeds have rpi/poll of 16/18 13/11 and 22/8. Really Florida 8/15 a 1 seed?

Good one snow. Can you place that gif in the tweet to Jordan. I don't know how to do it.

What a bunch of garbage! Slap in the face is a nice way of saying it. So is "what a bunch of garbage!" But I can't say what I really feel. I hope they destroy every team they face and show how STUPID the NCAA selection committee is.

The rpi #7 was actually last week. BYU is #10 on the final one after the Gonzaga game. Their last three WCC games against lower ranked teams pulled them down a bit. But they're good enough to play through this.coachK wrote:Apparently neither RPI nor the polls mean anything. What a slap in the face to give us a 4 seed. Can you sue the NCAA for discrimination. Re: Women's Soccer 2016
yeah. Women's basketball and all the "olympic" sports are probably a lot more biased than mens basketball and football when it comes to ncaa selection committees. BYU womens soccer is really good. They will be able to play through this and advance pretty far if they play how they're capable of playing. SMU is in the next bracket -- a team we beat already this year, 4-0. Stanford was the one team I was concerned about being in the same bracket with, and we avoided that.Mars wrote:Not surprised.
