BYU beat Washington State 2-1 on a slot shot in the 103rd minute of the second overtime off of a cross from Nadia Gomes. Nerve-racking match. Not a pretty game, but we battled. We need to clean some things up on defense. Ashley Hatch had both goals for BYU tonight, the first a deflection off an WSU player over the head of the goalkeeper. So glad Ashley Hatch is back! We're 1-0. Next game vs Nebraska, Monday at 5:30 MTN at South Field.

Sloppy lethargic play doomed women's soccer team
If they play like this at Penn State the game will be called on runs in the first half. Perhaps they were winded from the Washington State game. The lethargic play included sloppy closed-eye defense, poor passing (the Nebraska goal was the direct result of a poor pass), standing around and slow movement, and bad shots on goal.
Nebraska played tenaciously and used their goalkeeper as a defensive player - she was often out of the box and we were unable to capitalize on that.
I am trying to convert my wife to BYU sports by showing her our better teams. She left in disgust after the first half.
