Men's Lacrosse 2015

Post by Schmoe »

Okay, I've been slacking. Two games already in the books:

The preseason #6 Cougars got in a hole early at unranked SDSU and their comeback bid fell just short, with BYU on the wrong side of the final 8-7 score.

BYU bounced back on Valentine's Day and throttled preseason #24 UNLV in Las Vegas, 18-4.

Next up: The Cougars (1-1, 0-0) have their home-opener against the unranked Montana Grizzlies (0-0, 0-0) this Friday, Feb. 20, on the North University Field (intramural field) at 7:00 pm.

I'm just a regular, everyday normal guy,
I can't afford a car, I use public transportation,
I don't mind, I read till I reach my destination,
sometimes a newspaper, sometimes a book,
the money I save, this stuff is off the hook,

BYU comes out firing on all cylinders and rolls past Montana 23-3.

The Cougars (2-1, 0-0) will have a week of practice to fine tune things before a grueling, three-day Arizona trip where they'll face #27 Minnesota, Grand Canyon, and #5 Michigan State starting March 5.

The No. 8 Cougars used a strong start, going up 5-1 in the first quarter and 10-5 in the first half. BYU was then able to hang onto the lead and stifle the comeback attempt of No. 4 GCU, winning by the final score of 15-11.

Next up: BYU takes on No. 7 MSU who is coming off a 13-6 beating at the hands of No. 6 Chapman.

BYU has a rough first quarter vs. No. 7 MSU, getting themselves into a 1-3 hole early.

But the Sparty lead is short-lived as the Cougar D, led by keeper Brandenburg, holds them scoreless in the second quarter and the Fabrizio brothers, Grant, and Zach Jordan each score a goal, making it 5-3 at the half.

Sparty keeps it close in the third, trading goals with the Cougs in a back-and-forth battle, the quarter ending with the White and Blue still up by a pair, 7-5.

The fourth quarter is full of Cougar mojo, with seven different Cougars scoring goals including Jordan's third to give him the hat trick and BYU wins this one going away, 14-7.

Next up: The No. 8 Cougars (0-0, 5-1) return home to take on the No. 18 Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs (2-0, 4-0) on Saturday, March 14th, 4:00 pm on the North University Fields.
