So what is the potential impact during the bowl season? Can we assume the ban would cover the coaches of California state schools since they are state employees?

How many bowls are in Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas that have the potential for a California state institution to participate?

Good news for BYU in an "at-large" bowl year?

The ban also includes Kentucky. We are just glad that we won't see UCLA in Rupp Arena anytime soon since now the coaches who are state employees can't travel here. I wonder how many sports events they will have to cancel in those states from California schools.

Glad I got out of CA. Day doesn't go by that I don't thank the Lord.

CA is hypocritical. Trump can't impose a travel ban but CA can.

Oh well...every time I see things like this I tell myself it's supposed to get worse before it gets better. Looks like we're right on track.

The ban prohibits state employees from using state funds for travel to the affected states. It doesn't prohibit travel if other funds, such as donations, are used.

I suspect that the AG will issue an amended directive that exempts college academic and athletic teams.

As far as sports, I see this as a huge hit on all public univ. coaches. No more travel to some of the most fertile recruiting grounds.
I wonder how long until Utah gets banned? And could Fla and Ohio be far behind? Cal is digging their own grave. All this banning from a "tourist" state too. Pretty soon all they will have will be harbors as the tech companies continue to flee to more favorable tax and cost of living states.

Sort of a counter boycott.
Did you see the Tennessee legislature state that they would not reciprocate and called on other states to not escalate the nonsense that California is spreading.

While I'm not sure if it is the most ridiculous part of this mess, it's amazing California doesn't enforce the same ban on foreign nations with similar laws like China or Russia. The hypocrisy knows no end.
