If Trump and the GOP wanted to stand by and watch ObamaCare implode and die - that is an option. It's already in a death spiral. Insurers are pulling out. The ones that remain are jacking up their rates - a lot. The death spiral process will take about 2 years. At that point the cry for govt single payer will be loud, and likely violent. That's the way the Fascist Socialists make their voices heard.

I think the current plan is best. Move forward in a determined and prudent manner. Obviously the weak kneed wussy GOP Congressional members need Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to twist their arms and get them in line. Leadership needs to assume strong leadership roles.

I suggest seeing what Trump has to say when he addresses the joint houses of Congress. I would bet he addresses ObamaCare.

Would love to see that. Hey Congress GOP - Put your big boy pants on and get rid of that po(c) that you all hated so much a few months ago when running for your current position.

......and then Trump goes to CPAC and says the best path forward may be to just leave it be for a couple of years so it can fail on its own and the Dems beg the GOP to fix it.

Doesn't look like Obamacare is going anywhere. It's become an "entitlement", and no one looking at reelection in the next decade wants to touch entitlements any more.
Today Trump was quoted as saying ""Nobody knew health care could be so complicated." Maybe neither he nor anyone in his entourage knew what they were doing or saying when they were promising a quick repeal and replacement, but anyone who has spent any amount of time dealing with health care knew that you could not just swoop in and do as promised without negatively affecting large numbers of Americans and large portions of our economy and particularly when the program, for better or worse, has millions of new beneficiaries who are getting better health care and coverage than what they were receiving prior to ObamaCare.

I think yo have to plan circumspectly any time you embark on a major undertaking. Repealing and replacing ObamaCare is a massive undertaking. I can assure you - nothing was going to happen until Trump got his pick for HHS (Health and Human Services) confirmed and in his post. Price was confirmed on Feb. 10. Ten days have passed. Nothing so monumental as replacing ObamaCare is going to happen in 10 days. That said, I assure you the gears of change are turning.
...
Personally, I hope the Trump folks tread deliberately and with attention to detail while disassembling ObamaCare and writing it's replacement. The Trump team cannot blow this rollout by rushing it. It would be disastrous. Tom Price fully understands whats at stake.
Repeal and replace is looking less and less likely, with "leave, trim, repair, and box-in" becoming the words we're hearing out of the Congressional GOP, "If you say, ‘Would you help us repair something?’ people start listening in a whole other way."

We need Trump to use his bully pulpit and call out all of the GOP congressfolk who ran on a "repeal Obamacare" platform, and hold them up to the spotlight.
If you actually pay attention to what Trump actually said during the campaign, he likes socialized medicine. He just liked bashing Obama's version of it. He talks about lower premiums, lower deductibles, keeping the no pre-existing conditions, etc. That's actually more, not less. So why would he hold congress up to the spotlight for trying to come up with a plan that matches what Trump has said he wants? He never said to repeal it and go back to nothing. I'm not saying I agree with that, but a "better" national healthcare plan is what Trump campaigned on. It's why he's always said "replace."

the only one who thinks trump is getting rid of freedom of speech is the paranoid press, and their disciples.
How do these two things go together? I'm all for states rights. I don't really care about the transgender bathroom thing one way or the other.

I'm not invested enough to go back and look at how it relates. when did I write that, 2 weeks ago? people seemed to be thinking that the press was going to be completely taken away under Trump. Seemed pretty tin-foily without any evidence at the time I guess.
