I prefer the government not be involved in wages. A company should be free to pay any employee whatever they want. And an employee should be free to work for any amount they want and for everything they can get. Let the employee and company determine what is fair compensation for their time and production.

Agreed. This is a problem with "populism." Whether it starts on the left or the right, it eventually comes together. Leftist and Rightist populism only just start off emphasizing different things, but eventually both end up at economic socialism. Wanting the government to get involved with wages sounds very Bernie Sanders/socialist to me.

I do like the false dichotomy--you can either pay decent wages to workers, or millions to a CEO...BUT YOU CAN'T DO BOTH.

exactly. this false dichotomy can be very convincing to those who already want the government to tell business what to do.

Also note that if a worker makes a mistake usually it results in a shipment being late or a sale getting canceled. If a CEO makes a mistake a 10000 people could lose their jobs. So it's not fair to compare a CEO with a regular worker. Add to that, most CEO's don't even come close to what professional athletes make. And if the athlete fails nobody loses anything except maybe a bet. If you want to rail on income disparity why not professional athletes? They are way over paid by this logic. The rest of the venue workers make peanuts compared to them. But on the other hand, nobody would pay $75 dollars a ticket to watch the vendors walk up and down the stairs.
I know if I owned a company, I would want the most talented person to run it. If I had to pay him a hefty sum to get him I would as long as it fit within the budget.

Reminds me of a quote from a Tom Clancy book ("Clear & Present Danger" it might have been) that's I've always liked.
The only difference between a wise man and a fool is the wise man tends to make more serious mistakes. But only because no one trusts a fool with those decisions.

Spiff, if I could have said it that good I would have. There is a teacher shortage. Time will tell but I think this shortage has the potential to bring better things to the teachers than the unions ever could.

Yes, and it seems to be getting crazier every day. Now there are prominent Republican senators asking for a thorough investigation into the Russia connection with the administration. You have Trump's new spokesperson saying weird stuff like soon the whole world is going to know he can't be questioned. What the heck does that mean? It sounds very third world banana republic-esque to me.
