Dem's Boycot Inauguration - No Worry
From what I have read, about 65 Democrats in Congress have announced they are boycotting Trump's inauguration. Not to worry. Trump is in pretty good company. Democrats boycotted Lincoln's inauguration (1861). All the Democrats in Congress from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas refused to attend. They weren't missed back then and won't be missed now. Some things never change.

And then these same Democrats will bemoan the fact that we are living in a ever-furthering dividing nation.

This puzzles me. If republicans ever did this I doubt it was ever this big. Some of us on this sight have reported the atrocities committed by the democrats, cross burnings, house burnings, beatings (including Rep. John Lewis) and lynchings. The republicans say little about it. The media is oblivious to it as well.

Hypocrisy and double standards on steroids. The hypocrisy of the democratic party is nauseating.nuk13 wrote:This puzzles me. If republicans ever did this I doubt it was ever this big. Have you ever heard the story of how Condoleeza Rice's father and her family joined the Republican party?

Coldoleezza Rice is from Alabama (Birmingham). Born in 1954 in segregated Alabama, when it was a hardcore racist democrat stronghold. (Remember the Selma to Montgomery march march, 1965, in Alabama - led by Martin Luther King and John Lewis. That march was to protest the fact that Democrats would not let African American's register to vote in Alabama via Jim Crow laws.)
Condoleezza was unusual in that she was born to African American parents in the 1950's South - who both had college degrees. They both worked for a local, all black high school. Eventually her father became a college administrator. BTW, her mother taught music, and her name Condoleezza came from an Italian music notation "con dolcezza" - with sweetness.
So, in 1952, her father John Wesley Rice (high school football coach, guidance counselor, and ordained Presbyterian minister) wanted to vote. He walked to the Birmingham registrar office and asked the clerk if he could register to vote as a democrat. He was told he had to correctly guess how many beans were in a large pickle jar to qualify. Obviously he got it wrong - as did every African American that tried to register. The next day at work he was telling a co-worker his experience. They advised him to talk directly to a particular clerk, because he was registering Republicans. So he did. He told this particular clerk he wanted to register as a Republican - and he was registered to vote. John Wesley Rice was a committed life long Republican.
Condoleezza was a democrat until 1982 when she switched to Republican because she disagreed with Jimmy Carter's foreign policy, and because of the influence of her father. Condoleezza told the story of her father at the 2000 GOP convention where she was a speaker. She simply said - "My father joined our party because the Democrats in Jim Crow Alabama of 1952 would not register him to vote. The Republicans did."

That is an incredible story. I am again amazed that more people don't know of the corruption of the democrats. Frankly, more need to know of republican corruption as well. This nation need more honest politicians. They're the ones who should count the beans!Ddawg wrote:Coldoleezza Rice is from Alabama (Birmingham).
