Jeff Chatman No Longer a BYU Fan

First Jordan was politely asked to transfer, and now the same happened with Jessica.

My take is that neither kid indicated during their recruiting that they intended to serve missions, but when they each decided to leave the respective programs to do so, they were treated poorly by the coaching staffs.

Unfortunate, but hey, we have McKay Cannon now where Chatman could have been.

Bummer that we've lost a very good supporter in Jeff - he's always been one of my favorite Cougs. but come on Sno - you're being a little unfair to McKay... he's not part of the problem; he didn't force these guys out. He's a feel good story for awhile - why bring him into the badness that happened to Jeff's family?

PS Jordan's doing great at BC and they love him there - so that part worked out for him

I didn't know about the daughter but I never have figured out why they let Jordan go.

Because he played defense.

To punish him for creating personnel issues by going on a previously unplanned mission, and to make room for the LP3.

Why so much negativy on the BBall thread? Man, I might need to un-bookmark this place. There is absolutely zero reason to be negative this year in BBall.

Jordan Chatman wanted to go to law school, BYU Law told him he would have to quit. JChat transferred to a place that said he could do both. (He later decided not to do law).

THE END

Seriously guys. The venom is pretty bad here.

Let's not forget Jordon graduated and was trying to go to law school. BYU law school wouldn't let Jordon be on the team and be in law school.

Emery came back from his mission early throwing things off. The LP3 while certainly overrated, was still an unknown at the time. They were supposed to be the best trio ever. Hindsight is always 20/20. So if decisions were made at that time to accommodate the LP3, can we really fault the coaching staff?

Jordon came to BYU, blitzed through his undergraduate degree (good on him) and tried to go to law school and play hoops. I don't think Rose was planning on that either. Sounds to me like Jordon was expecting a lot of accommodating.

Dave Rose's policy on missions is clear. You commit to go or not to go during recruitment and if you change your mind, he reminds you of your commitment and asks to to hold to it. If you go against what you had originally committed to do, you don't get preferential treatment. Coming home early is a different story because sometimes you can't help that and from what I've seen everyone who has come home early has had to do it because of a medical reason. I don't see any reason to blame a current transfer into the program as the reason for a transfer out. IMO, I don't see anything wrong with Rose managing the mission scholarships the way he does. It is a hard thing to manage, something that most schools refuse to bother with.

As far as the daughter is concerned, that story sounded really unfortunate. I don't follow women's basketball but perception is reality and appears she was not treated fairly. I wish her good luck where she ended up and feel it is a travesty that Jeff is bitter towards the school now. His tweets about BYU when he was a fan were really fun.

One kid being poorly treated I leaned towards siding with the Chatmans. Now that we have a second kid being poorly treated it gives me pause to wonder if it wasn't BYU that was the issue. Because now we have potentially another common denominator that isn't BYU.

Two different coaching staffs too...
