Kajon Brown The 6’5” guard played this past season at Lee College in New Orleans. Prior to that, he played a year at Tulsa University. Brown will be a junior (with a redshirt year available) for BYU in 2017-18.
Brown brings athleticism and depth to BYU’s backcourt. An explosive leaper, Brown will counted on to bring more versatility off BYU’s bench. More than just jumping, Brown will also be expected to use his athleticism to beef up BYU’s defense.
He likely won’t be counted on to start or score big points during his time at BYU, but he will fill out BYU’s guard rotation. With the departure of Eric Mika, Dave Rose will likely utilize a guard-heavy rotation, which has often resulted in his best results during his BYU tenure.
Including Brown, BYU now has all 13 scholarships filled for the 2017-18 season. Brown’s signing comes about a month after the official signing period. He visited Penn State at the end of March, but never signed with the Nittany Lions.
BYU also added a walk-on in Weber State transfer Mckay Cannon. In two seasons at Weber State, the 6-foot guard from Shelley, Idaho, played in 67 games with the Wildcats and started in 40 games. Cannon will be a junior this upcoming season, with a redshirt year available.
