Seems to me Rose has bought into this idea of "we just need more talent" when we need to get more out of the talent we have.

Rose has done better with lesser talent. He and others seem to keep forgetting that.
What lesser talent? I haven't ever seen a bench as bad as the one we had this year.
And 100 years of statistics back me up on that. The article below talks about how BYU's starters are (were) tied for 1st place in the country scoring per game with UCLA, but they drop 31 complete spots when you factor in the bench, which averaged 14 points in conference play. I mean, there are teams that have players that come off the bench and go for 14 on a regular basis. It's a freaking miracle if we have someone come off the bench and score 5 points!

And to the topic at hand, (with all due respect) we aren't going to miss a combined 1.4 points a game and 3 turnovers a game average... We have people coming back from missions that are much more talented.

I agree, the coaching staff has completely mismanaged the bench players, and in fact, losing so many players when not replacing them with talent will lead to continued poor bench performance in the future. Dave Rose needs to figure out how to get quality bench players to stay.

PoPoola is officially a Ute. :utard:

So with the signing of Bergersen and assuming Andrus, Nixon, and Worthington all use a scholarship when they return from their missions, that makes 12 scholarship players and 1 walk-on. There is room for 1 more scholarship player and a couple walk-ons. And we continue to wait to see what Mika ends up doing.

Word making the rounds is that after PoPoola opted to "wait and see" rather than commit to BYU last fall when he had a chance to, he never heard from the coaching staff after that. So I'm not sure what the deal is there. Either the coaches felt he wasn't coming anyway and stopped spending time on him or they didn't give him enough attention in his eyes. Word is he was very close with Coach Lewis so it would be odd if they neglected to give him attention. Who knows what the real story is because I'm sure the coaches won't say anything one way or another.
