Some aggie and ute voices already out there whining about Seljaas coming home early as if BYU is behind it. I suppose they think he had fake shoulder surgery or something. Pathetic.

Fair point, not specifically calling out your post about Mika, I do vaguely remember some people saying this team would be much better once we got rid of KC because his "selfish triple double hunting" was hurting the team. Obviously we were worse without him.

We got better when he stopped doing that. He did it early in the season, we lost games we shouldn't have. He stopped doing it, we played much better. Sno was right there with me in lockstep on that one. I never said we'd be better without KC. We would be better if he played better and more with the team. He did, and we got better.

My disappointments with the BYU basketball program are these:

1. No commitment to a defensive system. If we are going to be a zone team- let's do it. If we are going to play man- let's play man. But do it well. It takes practice time and effort to develop a defensive culture. Some of this is crippled by a shallow talent pool but that is the disappointment.

2.Do we have a strength and conditioning program? For example, Shaw is a 6'9" power forward who still looks like he is on his mission still. He has been with the team for years. He should have gotten stronger. We can't be the most athletic team all the time but we should be able to be as strong or stronger.

3.I like high tempo offenses, but 24 ft 3pt shots outside the offense setup the team for failure. There needs to be simple instruction to each player about what a good shot for them is.

As for next year i think we will eek our way into the NCAA's. I hope that see a leap forward from Childs and Haws.

I agree on all points Qman. On #3, those shots have hurt the team more than help them. A 3 pt shot too often put the ball in the other team's hands.

Shaw has good skills but it's obvious he could benefit from an overall strength program. It won't slow him down. Haws and others could also benefit.

BYU #22, The Gaels checked in at No. 15, and the Zags at No. 7.

Yeah that dude doesn't really know BYU basketball... next years roster is WAY BETTER than this years. Ryan Andrus, Seljaas, Peyton Dastrup and Dalton Nixon, and Luke Worthington all coming back and off missions... That's a deep frontcourt. Much deeper than this year.
