Mika now projected as a mid- to late-second round pick
Draftexpress.com just updated their mock drafts after conference tournaments, and they now have Mika going in the second round, so he is now on the board/radar.
This will be an interesting process as underclassman prospects can now visit and workout with NBA teams, and even participate in the NBA combine (if invited) without losing their NBA eligibility, so Mika can test the waters this season and get actual NBA feedback before deciding whether or not to hire an agent and declare for the draft.

in 2018, not this year. Look at the top right of the page. I don't know what their thinking is on including him for next year and not this. Maybe they're guessing he'll be more ready. Maybe they don't expect him to declare this year, so they don't bother to rank him in 2017. Or maybe they think he's not a legit prospect this year but will be after next. Who knows.

That seems about right to me. It is a bad decision to leave school unless you get guaranteed money. (drafted in the 1st round)

He wasn't expected to be going this year, thus the 2018 projection. Maybe they are expecting him to pull out of 2017 based on their projection.

He will test the waters, find out no one is going to draft him in the 1st round, and be back at BYU next year. He simply is too soft for his position right now to make it in the NBA. The only way I could possible see him leaving BYU this year for the pros is if some team looks at his potential and feels they can develop him into what he should be after drafting him. (like Dallas did with Dirk Nowitski) Problem with that is he is already 22 and I don't think NBA teams look at a 22 year old with an eye for potential.

If he did go pro, that would take care of the potential scholarship issue with Seljaas coming home early from his mission if he is unable to return to the mission field.

He needs to improve his post defense if he wants to get drafted.

I think a team would pick him up. But he's not making guaranteed money this year.scott715 wrote:He needs to improve his post defense if he wants to get drafted.
