with Cal losing we're guaranteed a home game for round 3 if we win in round 2.

the way the NIT works now is so much better than it used to when they would handpick the home teams every round so they could basically choose the teams they wanted to make it to NY. In 2000 we won a couple of games and when we got close to NY they made us play at Notre Dame. In 1986 same thing. We won twice and then they made us play at Ohio State.

Houston lost to Akron. Home court is ours to lose.

I'm really surprised by this defensive effort. UT-A with their most points in a half this year. That's something I just would never imagined as being possible.

Halftime. UTA up 7. Can't say I'm totally surprised, but I thought BYU would show better than this.

I do not understand BYU b-ball this year.

I think UTA saw the St. Mary's game and smelled blood. They know BYU is a SOFT defensive team. They know that with one extra pass, the entire defense nails their feet to the floor and is expecting a shot and they can get that WIDE open 3 point shot that SMC found all night. UTA is shooting over 60 percent in the first half. You don't let a team do that with decent defense. BYU let SMC shoot an unbelievable 70% in the second half. Any self respecting team would not allow that to happen. BYU's defense got TORCHED by both these teams the last 2 halfs. I've never seen a zone defense at the college level leave guys open and run 2 guys at the ball so often.

Typically, it sounds like UTA is a well tempered offensive team. I think their coach saw the SMC game and knew he didn't need set plays. Just good ball movement and hopefully the open shot falls. He knows BYU isn't serious about playing defense.

Hey a record may be broken tonight for the second time in a season! UTA is on track to comfortably break UVU's scoring record by opponent in marriott center. Would be fitting honor for this team that doesn't have the mental fortitude to play defense for more than 2 passes.

Utah Valley scored 54 points in the 1st half and 60 in the 2nd half. This is just abysmal defense.

I didn't realize that BYU was the worst team in the WCC in turnovers, though it doesn't surprise me. That's terrible.

BYU's shot selection is making Carlino and Tavarnari look conservative.
