I'm Not Watching the ASU Game, BUT...
If the stats and play-by-play are telling me anything, it's that:
- Tav sucks, and this game only further proves what I've been saying about him on this forum and the "last" forum for a long time now. Bench him and keep him there.
- Emery is the most our most consistent player
- Hartsock follows closely behind
- We are a first half team this year
- We shoot WAY too many freaking 3's... seriously... watching the play-by-play, I don't think I'd be exaggerating to say that over 60% of our shots have been 3-point attempts so far.

Re: I'm Not Watching the ASU Game, BUT...
BYU led by as much as 20 points in the second half. The current lead is 4. We gave up 5 3-pointers in a row at one point. That is a MAJOR team weakness!
This is eerily similar to the USU game (led at halftime, lost by 10) and to the ASU game last year (led all game, lost at the very end).
Fredette seems to be having a terrible game- though he DID break BYU's all-time record by making his 33rd free throw attempt in a row.
Haws is 2-of-14 from 3-point range this season, they said, with both makes coming in this game.
Right now ASU has a player who had scored 0 points by halftime, and has scored 13 so far in the 2nd half...

k I still can't see the game... WTF IS GOING ON!?!?
How have we dropped a 16 point lead? How did we manage to let them -in OUR house - bring this thing within 4? If we choke again I will be epicly pissed...
Oh, and why can't Fredette lay off the 3-pointers?

Usually I'd agree with an inside out philosophy, but when you are shooting 51.4% inside and 41.8% from outside, I don't think taking a lot of threes is a bad thing.Italics wrote:- We shoot WAY too many freaking 3's... seriously... watching the play-by-play, I don't think I'd be exaggerating to say that over 60% of our shots have been 3-point attempts so far.
At those percentages, if you take 20 threes, you score between 24 and 27 points where you only score 20-22 points going inside per 20 attempts.
As long as you are getting to the line, I don't think jacking a lot of threes at that percentage is detrimental. BTW, you are grossly exaggerating--coming into tonight 32.5% of the Cougar shot attempts have been threes. Tonight, with 2:05 to go, 39.6% of their shots have been threes.

Emery has been CLUTCH this game. He has 17 points right now (including 5 made threes).

Re: I'm Not Watching the ASU Game, BUT...
One good thing I WILL say...
our team seems a lot more balanced than ASU's
From what I'm seeing, ASU basically = 2 players. Glasser and Kuksiks.
As where we have 4 guys with 10+ points. THAT I will say.

- Well, the 3 point % when I was watching was 30%, now it's 34%snoscythe wrote:Usually I'd agree with an inside out philosophy, but when you are shooting 51.4% inside and 41.8% from outside, I don't think taking a lot of threes is a bad thing.Italics wrote:- We shoot WAY too many freaking 3's... seriously... watching the play-by-play, I don't think I'd be exaggerating to say that over 60% of our shots have been 3-point attempts so far.

- I'm saying it had to be at 60% SINCE I was watching. There was one point where I swear it was all we were shooting. I just don't think the proper way to respond to your opponent when they're on a run is by jacking up three's, you gotta be aggressive, drive, and draw fouls.
