"King Louis" Sakota Cut from CFL
"He struggled with punting over the first few weeks of the season and he's now on his way out. The Riders announced Monday that they are releasing import kicker/punter Louie Sakoda. He averaged only 33.9 yards a punt in three games with Saskatchewan. That's the lowest punting average in the CFL. Sakoda was replaced by Eddie Johnson for the game against Calgary in Week 4. Johnson's averaging 45 yards per punt, the second-highest average in the league."

That's too bad for him...he may have been a Ute, but he seemed to be a class individual and was a very good field goal kicker. Best of luck...

Dang...I have to admit he was one a the best college place kickers AND punters I've ever seen. I wonder if he ever had a chance to make as a place kicker? The guy was just flat out accurate.
Maybe selling his soul to play for the utes finally caught up to him.

What was his average in college? I wonder why he started sucking when he used to be so good.Mars wrote:He averaged only 33.9 yards a punt in three games with Saskatchewan. That's the lowest punting average in the CFL.

That's because Luck Runs Out...Talent Doesn't.

Well, I'd have to disagree with part of that. For Louie, it was a hot streak. But his leg strength has always been an issue. He did not kick off for Utah, and did not take FG attempts over 50+ yards. Accurate otherwise.YBrit wrote:That's because Luck Runs Out...Talent Doesn't.

As to the U, they were extremely talented in 2008, all over the field. ThE NFL agrees with me on that too. Of course, we beat them 3 of 4, so--COACHING.

Didn't this guy graduate a couple years ago? Are we really so petty that we have to sit around and talk about old Ute players? Kinda sad guys.
