Re: Additional FB Coach?
Waiting for Ty to come back from hunting and decide if he'll be QB coach?
Yeahhhhhhhh ... nope. That might make sense.

Re: Additional FB Coach?
I like Hans Olson, but there are many times when I don't agree with what he says. Today he was speaking about how Ty really had no one on his staff, for being a 1st time OC, to bounce anything off of. Steve Clark maybe some experience, but not really what you would want. Jeff Grimes has the experience at a high level (though it would be nice if he had been an OC already, but if he had, at the places he's been, we never would have been in the ball park for his services) and so does A-Rod. Collectively they have something Ty never did and yet we expected for everything to go okay. There are still a lot of intangibles about how the new offensive staff will fare, but I do have a bit more confidence in what's on paper thus far.
I didn't like the Reno Mahe hire from the perspective of lack of coaching experience, but I can't say that I wasn't surprised when he was not retained. Interesting why it's taking so long to add this 10th coach, and now that we know they will be a RB coach.

Re: Additional FB Coach?
Hans was slamming BYU for not paying better. He said there was one of the assistant coaches last season that made "well" below $100K. We do need to get more competitive in some way and fashion.

Re: Additional FB Coach?
Right, but it then would make no sense that this addition was delayed to this point, especially seeing that we had already raided WSU for 2 other coaches.

Probably just waiting to find a replacement for the Assistant to the Athletic Director for Student Services position (or whatever the made-up title is) before officially promoting Fui Vakapuna.
