Re: Ty No Longer OC
Just remember that Kalani Sitake was mentored by Kyle Whittingham, a guy who nearly every season scapegoats his OC who he handicaps and hamstrings all season long.
Andy Ludwig
Brian Johnson
Norm Chow
Dave Schramm
Dave Christensen
Dennis Erickson
Aaron Roderick
Jim Harding
Troy Taylor (soon)
Those are the OC's Kyle Whittingham has cycled through in his 12 seasons -- his OCs average less than one and a half seasons.

I still think Detmer was in over is head. But the problems that Sitake has caused is 100 times worse...

Re: Ty No Longer OC
I've said it before. The numbers speak for themselves, Ty's offense was a failure but IMO there are so many problems with this team that a new Ocoordinator isn't the answer. Unless they hire a real Hard A$$ as the Ocooordinator to bring some discipline then we are going to see a repeat of this year next year.byufan4ever wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 10:25 am I still think Detmer was in over is head. Re: Ty No Longer OC
I really hope Ty stays on staff. I think we need him as QB coach. Let a new offensive coordinator overhaul the rest.
The overall state of the program and the injuries are more to blame than anything else. I think Ty's personal actions are much less the issue than the overall structure he worked in this season.
As for the next steps, I say bring in an outsider. It will look bad on Kalani if he brings in another good ol boy.
This article has an interesting take on the list of potential candidates:

Can we get the crazy pirate Mike Leach to bring the air raid to Provo? If players aren't doing film study, or lax, or whatever, he could just lock them in a closet.

Re: Ty No Longer OC
I don't remember which back-up QB said they were on the headsets with Ty every game. He would call the play, and then tell the guys on the headsets which route would be open. The QB said Ty was right every time.TulaneVandyRiceCoug wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 11:08 am I really hope Ty stays on staff. I think we need him as QB coach. The problem is institutional with the football program right now ... Ty was not the problem.

Re: Ty No Longer OC
Statistically, Ty was the biggest problem.
But yes, the team culture seems to be an even bigger problem, and this doesn't fix that. Doesn't necessarily hurt it either, though.

I thought that it was the other way around - that it was Wilstead who was identifying who would be open on the headsetsmtnradio wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 12:14 pmI don't remember which back-up QB said they were on the headsets with Ty every game. Now I"m going to have to try to find it. But I think you are right that it was Wilstead, I'm just also confident that he was talking about Ty. I'll see what I can find.ABYUFAN wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 2:00 pmI thought that it was the other way around - that it was Wilstead who was identifying who would be open on the headsetsmtnradio wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 12:14 pmI don't remember which back-up QB said they were on the headsets with Ty every game.
