Re: QB questions:
The only answer is Tanner M, for both. If Tanner had been coached correctly, he would be breaking BYU passing records all over the place.

Global warming is the coaches fault too.
I get coaching needs a lot of help if not changes.
But, Your one hit wonder Schtick is getting old.
I'm sure his depression, anxiety, medication effects, and failed engagement are the coaches fault too.

Re: QB questions:
I'm in total agreement. But it seems a lot of folks feel he is just a little league QB who only beats weaklings. His w-l against good teams isn't great. But BYU's record as a whole against great teams is abysmal.
I'm hoping that unless Beau Hoge or Wilstead or Critchlow are the undisputed better QB heading into next fall, they play Mangum.

Re: QB questions:
How did Tanner look under the previous coaching staff? How does he look under this coaching staff? How do you explain the difference? How did Taysom Hill look under the previous coaching staff? How did he look last year under the current coaching staff? How did he look playing under his Pro coaching staff? How do you explain the difference? I may be a 1 issue voter right now but there is no other explanation. our coaches have failed badly, and we need a change.Cougs_Rule wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 9:47 pmGlobal warming is the coaches fault too.

Re: QB questions:
There is some truth to this. The players own some of the responsibility. Coaching is only part of the equation. The whole program must come together. Some of the players have already said as much.Cougs_Rule wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 9:47 pmGlobal warming is the coaches fault too.

As an aside, global warming is not anthropogenic, and not driven by the small atmospheric CO2 changes of the past 60 years, and not accelerating over the past two centuries, and therefore, is no one's fault. But your reference to it is pithy, and I appreciate the irony.

Re: QB questions:
Taysom looked better in an offense that was built on improv ... and something for which he was particularly well suited. He didn't look as good last year as he was learning a new system, new reads, etc, was hampered by less mobility, etc. precisely what one would expect.BOID wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2017 6:05 amThere is some truth to this. Tanner looked great in a system he was familiar with and pretty much what he played in high school. He had a year last year with this program, but there are a lot of other issues as well (some stated above). He has been injured this year ... and unless you have been in a position where you tried to play hurt, or tried to come back from a significant injury, it is hard to understand. You go out with a changed attitude/mind-set. There are worries about your injury, is it strong now, will you get re-injured? There comes a time in the game where you essentially set those aside and play, but every time you make a move that has hurt in the past, a doubt flashes across your mind. Some guys are better at overcoming this than others. But any amount of this exacerbates other problems ... playing against teams with much greater speed means timing must be precise on a pass, and if there are doubts about the receivers actually fighting for the ball and running the right routes ... things happen. Etc.
Tanner looked great yesterday ... he was able to have confidence in his team, find a rhythm and play well. He even ran well.
There are a LOT of considerations that we, as fans ... even some knowledgeable fans, just don't understand.
