Who is the best QB on the team?
The comparisons of Tanner to Heaps are happening. We don’t have a Riley Nelson to pull out a game.
Who is the most talented QBon the team?

On The team: Beau Hoge
Dressed to play: Critchlow
For next year: Hoge (if he's still playing) or Wilstead or Critchlow, then Mangum.
Healthy Hoge gets nod over others bc he can scramble/run in an offense that is often pathetic and impotent...like last except for Hill/Jamaal

It's always the guy no one has seen play.
Last year this poll would have been overwhelmingly "Tanner Mangum". This year, everyone has abandoned that ship and has started stumping for anyone that hasn't played. I'd guarantee that if Koy Detmer hadn't played at USU or any other time this season, that a lot of people would be calling for him to start.

Probably Mangum, but in a spread, not the Cleveland Browns' prostyle.

Hoge was seen and played. Threw better. Offense production much better. Scheme to players better. No contest really. Tanner is Heaps worse.

Problem with this is 2 years ago we saw Tanner play pretty well against decent competition. I can't decide if Tanner is the problem or not. He does not look like the QB we saw 2 years ago.Cougs_Rule wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2017 7:44 am Hoge was seen and played. Threw better. Offense production much better. Scheme to players better. Hoge had a couple good drives against USU, who wasn't the best team we had played to that point. I'm undecided there as well, not enough of a sample size against good teams. His legs definitely don't hurt his case though.

The best QB on the team is Tanner Mangum but horrible coaching has made him look a shell of who he should be.

I sit here wondering how the Tanner Mangum of 2 years ago is completely gone. Is it coaching? Is it scheme? The drop off in productivity there has been nuts.
I think Hoge is next up, then Critchlow. Not sure what Tanner needs to succeed. Better line would help. Better receivers would help. Better fire to get nasty out on the gridiron would definitely help.

I think of three things:TulaneVandyRiceCoug wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2017 2:49 am I sit here wondering how the Tanner Mangum of 2 years ago is completely gone. Is it coaching? Is it scheme? The drop off in productivity there has been nuts.
1) How good Taysom looked under Anae/Ja. Beck in the Nebraska game before he got hobbled.
2) How mediocre Taysom looked in 2016 under Detmer.
3) How good Taysom looking in Green Bay's preseason under McCarthy.
Granted, Tanner never looked as good as Taysom looked in that first half against Nebraska, but I think Detmer has not delivered much in the way of QB play.
