In a further effort to better understand our opponents and expand our horizons we present important facts about where they are from. BYU is turning its sites on Miss State. so it is time for us to do the same. Here are important facts about the Great State of Mississippi (with some editorial liberties ;) )

Mississippi became the 20th state on December 10th 1817. It would have joined sooner, but members of Congress could not get past the “pp” part of the State’s spelling and the incessant giggling that ensued in order to put the state’s admission to a vote.

Mississippi has 82 counties, all of which have at least one thriving weight watchers franchise.

The state flag of Mississippi could be described as a little bit of the Confederate flag and a little bit of the French flag. It’s state motto follows: Give us enough time and we’ll surrender!

Mississippi is an Indian name which means "nature’s way of getting rid of two-wide trailers down by the river"

Mississippi is the only state in America that doesn't offer personalized license plates. That’s because every car owner already is convinced that his or her plate already is personalized.

Mississippi is the only place where the former football coach of the flagship university admitted to being a bona fide Nutt.

Brett Favre was born in Kiln, Mississippi. He pronounces his name as if it is spelled Farve. Dang doctor who filled out his birth certificate was cross-eyed.
