We could make Ed Lamb the interim HC right now. He is not LDS but he turned SUU around. He knows how to coach. Detmer may be able to be retained as the Ocoordinator but We need to get rid of Cahoon, and Empey right now and try to get someone who can coach some toughness in those positions. The defense needs a shakeup at the very least. Put Kaufusi back on the Dline and Tuiaki back on linebackers. Someone needs to fix Defensive play calling and get some blitz packages installed. We need some pressure on opposing QB's. At the end of the season, clean house. This current coaching staff has destroyed a 9 win team. There is no reason why this team shouldn't have the talent to make a bowl game at the very least and they aren't going to do it. If Bronco and Anae were still here we would be 2-3 at worst, probably 3-2 with the possibility of 4-1 since LSU isn't nearly as good as we thought they were.

Come on who are you all kidding. There will be no coaching changes now or at the end of the season. BYU is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! They could have went out and spent the money 2 years ago and didnt. Instead they brought in a bunch of unproven CHEAP former players to make the boosters feel good about themselves.

Do you all really believe there is a mass group of coach's out there begging to come to BYU and be UNDER PAID and have to deal with all the BS with the honor code and tring to recruit with it.

BYU handcuffs themselves with all the stupid rules and regulations that the coaching staff has to deal with. And this unwritten rule about the head coach having to have a temple recommend limits the candidates to what 5 maybe 8 coaches. And are any of them any better the kalani?

As much as this year has hurt there are to many things pointing to this staff getting another year.

If BYU wants to play like a P5 they need to hire like a P5 and that could mean increasing salaries and hiring people with division 1 coaching credentials. If Notre Dame can hire a non Catholic as there coach I don't see why BYU couldn't hire a non Mormon.

Lamb should have gotten the head coaching job but dumb unwritten rules hold byu back.

I have heard too many former players talk about how good the Oline has been this year to fire Empy. They know more then I do so I find it hard argue with them.

There will be no house cleaning at the end of the year so get that ridiculous thought out of your head. Maybe a coaching change here or there but the majority of this staff will be back.

I think a1247 is right that there will be no, or minimal, coaching changes this year. Mahe would be at the top of my list to go, but it doesn't matter. Probably no changes.

The one thing I disagree with is all the complaining about the Honor Code. First, I'm not convinced it hurts us. (In some cases it helps us with recruiting non-members ... over the years we've had several come because their Mom said she pushed them here because she liked the rules ...) Second, this is BYU, not the great and spacious Alabama, or Utah, or .... there are standards here that are far more important. The HC isn't going anywhere, nor should it ... we can have a Top 25 program with it.
