Re: Predict the remainder of the season
I agree that BYU will be 8-5 going into a bowl game. The Cougars will lose to Miss State and BSU but will win the rest against poor teams.snoscythe wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2017 11:25 am I don't think BYU is very good, but I don't think they are as bad as they are being made out to be.
We got backhanded by two top-10 teams, yeah. That's how it usually happens.
Mississippi State isn't happening without a miracle.
I think BSU and the bowl game are toss ups, USU as well just because of the emotion and blood-in-the-water feel of the game.
The rest are wins. Anyone who thinks we are losing to ECU hasn't bothered to look at how poor ECU is this year. They did worse than BYU against their FCS foe (lost 34-14 to "James Madison").
So I think we go into the bowl at 8-5.

I agree.I think they will look a lot better against the second half of the schedule.snoscythe wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2017 11:25 am I don't think BYU is very good, but I don't think they are as bad as they are being made out to be.

I think we finish 7-6. We drop a game we aren't supposed to.

My money is on the next game
USU is going to be chomping at the bit to get a W, and BYU still looks lost and complacent.

Yeah, and I wouldn't be surprised is San Jose St. gave us a game.

Re: Predict the remainder of the season
Using the Massey Ratings composite rankings (https://www.masseyratings.com/cf/compare.htm) BYU is #81 (with a high of #37 and low of #116) and here is where our remaining foes rank:
USU: #102 - should be a W but you know they'll be up for this game
BSU: #41 - L although they're not as good as in recent years
Miss St: #12 - L no chance
East Carolina: #124 - W horrible team
San Jose St: #121 - W
Fresno St: #106 - W
UMass: #128 - W they are 0-4 but have at least been competitive in each game albeit against a very easy schedule
Hawaii: #97 W just worry about playing at Hawaii
Somewhat separate from this, but I've been saying for years (maybe not here) that the bowl game requirement needs to be moved to 8 wins. It needs to mean something and be a bit of a challenge to achieve. I honestly don't think that winning 7 games on this schedule with an extra game is a special season that deserves a reward, but that's just me and I totally understand those who might disagree. It is what it is right now and I'll take the bowl game.

It isn't, it's an awful season.Cougs_Rule wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2017 11:17 am Who would ever think that 7-6 is a special season ever?
