Future football schedules

With it looking unlikely that anything is changing on the Big 12 front at this point, I thought it may be interesting to re-examine future football schedules to see where independent BYU is at.

2018 - FULL
Home (6) - Cal, McNeese State, Utah State, Northern Illinois, New Mexico State, Hawaii
Away (6) - Arizona, Wisconsin, Washington, Boise State, UMass, Utah

2019
Home (6) - Utah, USC, Washington, Boise State, Liberty, Idaho State
Away (5) - Tennessee, Toledo, Utah State, UMass, San Diego State, ???

2020
Home (4) - Michigan State, Utah State, Missouri, San Diego State, (FCS), ???
Away (6) - Utah, Arizona State, Minnesota, Boise State, Northern Illinois, Stanford
Only need 1 home game and a FCS game

2021
Home (4) - Utah, Arizona State, Boise State, Virginia, (FCS), ???
Away (5) - Arizona (N), USF, USC, Baylor, Washington State, ???
This is the earliest year that Notre Dame has a road game opening to complete the contract. Holmoe had previously said ND wouldn't be available to play that game before 2020 and BYU would be patient. So that time is coming. Or will they buy it out?

2022
Home (2) - USF, Baylor, (FCS), ???, ???, ???
Away (5) - Utah, Oregon, Boise State, Liberty, Stanford, ???
Utah State series may begin again this season @ Utah State--which would fill up the road game schedule. Although it does kind of mess up BYU's schedule by having Boise State and Utah State both at home or both on the road going forward. I'm not sure if that is problematic but with the Boise State series ending in 2023, perhaps they skip a year if a renewal is done?

2023
Home (3) - Tennessee, Boise State, Stanford, (FCS), ???, ???
Away (2) - Virginia, USC, ???, ???, ???, ???

2024
Home (0) - (FCS), ???, ???, ???, ???, ???
Away (0) - ???, ???, ???, ???, ???, ???
No games at all yet. Though there is 7 years to fill it up.

2025
Home (3) - Stanford, Minnesota, Virginia, (FCS), ???, ???
Away (0) - ???, ???, ???, ???, ???, ???
Funny how half the home schedule is full with no road games announced.

There is only a game with Arizona in Provo in 2026 and in Tucson in 2027 on week 2 beyond the Big 12 GOR expiration in 2025.

Also there is the question about the Southern Miss H/H. Back in 2013 it was reported by deadspin that Southern Miss was moving to cancel the series so it could pursue better payouts ($200k guarantee). Those games would have been in the 2014/2015 seasons with a $1 mill cancellation. Since we have never heard one way or another officially, those games might still be out there waiting for reschedule? Or they might be cancelled and done.

Excellent work. They look more and more like a P5 schedule. I wonder if we will get any of those games in LES with the new Raider stadium.
