Current official 2017 roster

Currently they list 112 players. Here are some of the interesting things I saw there:
- Players previously mentioned as being done due to injury are still listed on the 2017 roster (Trevor Brent, Troy Hinds, Scott Huntsman)
- Some players from last year are no longer on the roster (Lene Lesetele, Kamalani Kaluhiokalani, David Low)
- Tomasi Laulile is NOT listed on the roster still, though Sione Takitaki IS listed back on the roster.
- The list of 112 does not include 2017 signees who are expected to join in the fall.

There will obviously be some more scrubbing of this list as WITH the fall incoming freshman the roster has to be trimmed to 105.

Well the key for May is James Empey. He's scheduled to be back home from the Portugal Lisbon Mission the last Saturday of this month. Has his father turned him from the dark side of Puketah? We'll know soon.

More interesting tidbits on the roster construction for fall 2017 per LoyalCougars.
LB Scott Huntsman remains on the official roster, but on LC is listed as not with the team due to season ending injury. His status for 2017 remains questionable.

DL Moses Kaumatule was listed in the spring practice 2-deep, but is now listed as leaving the team to focus on family and academics. He would have been a Junior.

Previously a few players were listed as having left the program due to injury on LC's roster but never left the official roster. DB Trevor Brent and TE Troy Hinds are now listed back on the LC roster--though they have a status of "NC" under scholarship along with OL Jacob Jimenez and Ului Lapuaho. I'm guessing NC means not continuing or something along those lines as all those players have spent significant time out due to injury or being down the depth chart. Perhaps they can remain with the team as walk-ons? Factoring that in with the incoming players for fall camp (2017 signees and RMs) that would make only 5 scholarships left to trim to get to the allowed 85 for 2017.

Finally, and maybe most exciting, OL James Empey is appearing on LC's roster as a player who may join the team in the fall. I'm assuming that was added because they know something?

Nice! Also, reported word from cb poster guy is that Mo Langi confirmed to a fan at the Farmington fan fest that he is redshirting this year. Which only makes sense. I'd bet he is playing on the practice squad to get some work and strength/conditioning in to see if he has a shot at making it for real.

James Empey is home from his mission and word is he is coming to the Y and is already registered.
