Underappreciated?

Brad Sorensen maybe? Walk-on at QB, was 4th-string behind Heaps and Nelson. Transferred to SUU, drafted into the NFL, made teams from 2013-2016.

Best BYU career QB ratings since 2009:
1. Christian Stewart
2. Tanner Mangum
3. James Lark
4. Riley Nelson
5. Taysom Hill

Forgot about Christian Stewart. That dude did so much for the football team. Very unselfish.

Yep, we're all going to sound like broken records here repeating our same opinions. I recall this thread from during the football season:

http://www.cougarcorner.com/viewtopic.p ... 20#p229810

And this quote from poster McY:
IMO, the thread title should be "Offensive problems not 100% Taysom's Fault, But He is a Large Part of the Problem, Plus We Are All Sad That He Doesn't Run as Fast as Forever Ago and Losing Close Games Sucks." ....or something like
That to me represents how I feel about Taysom and last season. Yet, many on here seem to suggest that Taysom had zero fault in the offense and want to impose that some of us who believe Taysom "played a part" in the horrible offense are saying that he was 100% of the problem.

I think Taysom would have been much wiser to go to UVA for his final season. He would have helped them win quite a few more games and been remembered and missed fondly at BYU and beloved at UVA.

BYU would have lost a few more games and struggled a lot more on offense and we all would have imagined just how well the season could have gone with Taysom back.

I'm glad he didn't go to UVA. I would rather lose less games than more.

Also, my broken record point has been and will continue to be that while Taysom was far from perfect, no one would have been complaining about his play if we had receivers that had an ounce of toughness and didn't make a habit of tipping the balls softly into the air for defenses to pick up and run into the end zone, and if the offensive line could have held their blocks for any amount of time at all. Taysom wasn't the same running QB because he was trying to be a stand in the pocket QB for Ty's offense instead of a read option running QB. It was easier to keep a spy on him because our receivers were not a threat. As long as people come on this site and blame him for the losses that we had last year, I will defend his play and criticize the pillows and feathers receivers we had last year. And as far as the offensive line is concerned, we win the Utah game at least if they block worth a crap on at least one play (the 2 point conversion). And the icing on the cake was the bowl game where the receivers couldn't catch a cold in that game with the "savior" of the offense running the offense.

It's hard to have an honest discussion when so much conjecture is being thrown around, and so many straw man's are being set up to knock over.

I suppose it's my fault for trying to find honest discussions on the internet.
