LoyalCougars now lists LB Scott Huntsman as retiring due to a career ending Achillies tendon injury. He looked good as a freshman prior to his injury. Too bad.

Whoa. That must have been a heck of an achiles injury. Most guys would be able to bounce back from the typical achilles rupture. Maybe not the first one he's had?

He was a walk on. That is why his Achilles injury has ended his career.

He was good enough to get a scholarship. His injury ended his career not his ability.

If he was good enough to get one, he didn't have one so he was still a walk on. Someone made the comment that others have returned from Achilles injuries while he did not and speculated that it must be a bad one. My speculation was that since he was not a player on a scholarship, and had a devastating injury, that the coaches chose to look elsewhere for players who have not had an injury to give a scholarship to. If he was really that good, my guess is that after his recovery he could have walked on, showed how good he was, and earned a scholarship if he had that kind of ability.
