Early look at the seniors for BYU 2017

Post by Fido »

OFFENSE
This group is very young. There is only 6 total seniors on the offensive side of the ball.

Offensive Line
All 3 starters on the interior offensive line are seniors. And with the departure this offseason of Quin Ficklin (to Utah State), the entire C depth chart will be graduating. Some young talent will need to step up and prepare to replace these key players:
C Tejan Koroma
G Tuni Kanuch
G Keyan Norman

Tight End
Returning starter from 2016 is the only senior in the group.
Tanner Balderree

Wide Receiver
1 WR is a senior for the coming year.
Jonah Trinnaman

Running Back
Nobody in the 2 deep is a senior at this position.
Colby Hansen (walk-on)

DEFENSE
14 players on the defensive side of the ball are seniors. However, only 6 of those players are on the 2-deep chart.

Defensive Line
3 players from the 2 deep are seniors.
Tomasi Laulile
Handsome Tanielu
Kesni Tausinga

Linebacker
1 senior on the 2 deep chart.
Fred Warner

These guys from the depth chart are also seniors.
Va'a Niumatalolo
Lene Lesatele
Grant Jones (walk-on)

Defensive Backfield
DBs are where all the seniors seem to be congregated this season. 2 are on the 2 deep chart and 5 are from additional depth at the position.
Matt Hadley
Micah Hannemann

These guys from the depth chart are seniors.
Gavin Fowler (walk-on)
Kamel Greene (walk-on)
Sawyer Powell
Cody Stewart (walk-on)
Marvin Hifo (new walk-on for 2017)

Specialists
Punter Jonny Linehan is back for another year as a graduate player.

Update: Somehow when I put the list together I completely forgot about Jonah Trinnaman. He has been added to the original post.

There is a couple more guys who were reclassed as seniors on the latest update from LoyalCougars that I missed:
Kamalani Kaluhiokalani DL
Hiva Lee DB
Young Tanner QB

Lee played on special teams but I don't know that the other guys played much last year.
