The Results of Insisting Recruits Recruit the School

Post by snoscythe »

Bronco was not a good recruiter, but his approach was understandable given the scandalous state of the program he inherited. He just never adjusted after that.

The PAC12 also has a big impact on the gap between the two schools recruiting.

Hopefully Kalani can start to fix that gap, I'm not sure how many years though we'll have to wait to see improvement.

This is by far the #1 reason in the difference in recruiting between the schools.

In addition to that, BYU has fallen with good, but not great results being independent. When we were winning 10-11 games a year and consistently ranked in the top 25 our recruiting was better. As an independent we won 10 games just once, we have spent a total of 7 weeks in a major poll, and we don't have any big wins against Power conference teams that finished ranked. That makes for some tepid recruiting.

Note that these recruiting rankings do not even include the 4* QB that Yewtah was able to get to enroll as a walk-on to the team last month.
