The ramifications are bad for G5 but they need the money it would generate. Not sure how to structure it. Maybe you take G5 champions and a token P5 invite and ND and BYU. Don't call it G5 champion but more like a NIT champion. Have the selection committee come from mostly G5 schools. It could include the P5 champion who does not make the playoffs.

A G5 playoff isn't getting Notre Dame. They'll stay with the P5.

If ND is not in the playoff, they could be invited. It would give some legitimacy to the games and not separate the G5 from P5.
