Re: A.J. Lolohea will play for BYU (Weber St. Commit before mission)
From the DNews article:
The 6-foot-2 Lolohea wasn't recruited by BYU during high school, but Cougar coaches learned about the linebacker/defensive end prior to his return home from his mission in July. He gained approximately 45 pounds while gone, and now weighs about 230 pounds.
His bio at Weber State listed him at 6' 3" 200 pounds--but the story hints he would have been more towards 185. Regardless of whether he was 185 or 200, that is VERY light for a DL and could explain why he wasn't recruited for BYU out of high school. But as a 6'2" 230 pound freshman DL who can enroll early in January and with some time in a focused strength and conditioning program he may be someone a little more interesting. I don't expect him to rock the depth chart or anything like that but as with all the new players on the DL it will be interesting to see how things take shape going into 2017.
