Also, why was there no penalty for such a prolonged and self endulgent demonstration? I don't get that part of it at all. This was much beyond the usual spiking or tossing of the ball. This guy doesn't drop the ball, or hand it to the official, but delays the game as he keeps it and runs to his team's sideline, climbs a bench, holding the ball up to taunt the crowd with it, pulling his helmet off to show BYU fans who he is, that he has returned to show us all.

If that is not an excessive celebration, then there is no such thing, and no further penalties should ever again be issued for celebrations.

It was off the field so no penalty.

Really? So Kai Nacua could intercept the ball, get off the field a few yards and spike the ball and no penalty? If that was true and I played defense, I'd punt the ball as far into the crowd as possible every time I came up with an interception or fumble recovery or scored, or did anything awesome.

I don't think the refs could see it through the whole team and off the field. The TV camera from the stands could see it.
